I do think it's important to not waste paper--to not waste anything for that matter--but the amount of paper individuals would save by not printing out emails is so minute compared to the amount of paper companies "waste" everyday--printers, paper manufacturers, graphic design firms...they all "waste" tons every day. In fact they recycle it, which is what we would do also, when we're done with it. So bottom line, I wouldn't worry too much about it. But do keep a box of "scrap" printer paper in a box below your printer and for non critical things, run it through the printer again on the other side. A little bit of savings!

I feel your pain. Today I cleaned off my desk and threw away several pounds of paper. Occasionally, I do print out emails and add them to my letter collection basket. Memories are important to me and I will enjoy reading them in years to come!

There is a third alternative, although I'm late to this discussion. RECYCLE.

Then you print out what you need, and if you decide that you don't need it, stick it in with the recycle papers.

I simply have a basket next to my reading table. I simply drop into the basket each magazine, newspaper or business copy paper when I am finished. When I it is full I put it in a bag from the grocery store, (also recyclable) and out it goes to the recycle bin. Once a week I put the trash out (now almost nothing) with a recyle pile on the appropriate day. If your state isn't recycling yet, ask why not. In many apartments there is usually a recycling bin down near the trash bins. Just as easy to carry recyling bag as it is a trash bag.

It is simply a case of setting up a system that is as easy to use as the trash basket, call it the recyle basket.

Hope this helps. Debbie
