I agree...you can't replace the experience of having a book in your hands. I refuse to get a Kindle...I want the book. I want to hear the crack of the spine when you open a new book, I want the smell of the paper and ink, and I want to be able to put my cute bookmark with the dog on it to save my place when I have to stop reading for a while. And when I finally tackle a book I have had on my reading list for a while, I want it on my bookshelf like a trophy to show my friends, and to remind myself of all the books I have read. Plus, I look at a computer all day at work, my eyes need a rest.

There are many reasons why I think Kindle would suck for me. One, yes I love books and paper. I want to hold it in my hand. I want to write on the pages. I want to place it by my bed without having to charge it (forget that!). Also, saving the eyes is huge. Finally, more than books, I love libraries and browsing in bookstores. How would you charge out a kindle book? I suppose a library could create a web portal where you could charge out a book that would be downloaded but then how would Amazon make money?

I'd rather support my local library and bookstore. In the short and long runs, kindle just seems too expensive and elitist, two things books should never be.
