Preparing for the Big Month
My Brookdale personalized stamper arrived yesterday. Just in time for April! Do you know what April is? Alright I’ll tell you. It’s National Card and Letter Writing month. Yes, such a thing exists. Last year I wrote a blog to celebrate the occasion, but this year I’m going a bit further. . .
1. I teamed up with Gifts in 24 (supplier of my awesome new stamper) to host an essay contest. We’re asking everyone to tell us (in 500 words or less) about a letter that they’ve held on to for years. Tell us all about a letter that meant the world to you when you received it and still means the world to you now.
2. I’m going to write one letter every single day of the month. I think that’s going to be harder than it sounds. My letter writing is sporadic—it’s the same as my journal writing. Some weeks I write every day and other weeks I don’t write at all. This April, however, I’m going to write a letter each day to one friend or family member, and I’m going to blog about every person, too. I’ll tell how I met them and why I love them so. I’m really looking forward to it. Please participate! Enter the contest, write a letter a day, or just write one letter to someone special if you haven’t done so in a while. Let’s keep letters alive.

Wow. National Letter Writing Month? I tried out National Novel Writing Month the other year and pooped out quickly, but this I think I can do. I’ll happily join you in your letter-a-day resolution.

Great idea to do one letter per month to celebrate! I found out about the essay contest at PR.com and wrote about it on my blog, so hopefully it will send one or two people your way. Every little bit helps!
I’m looking forward to seeing how your month goes!

Oh, I meant to ask… what color is your new stamp? I love cool letter writing tools. I had to pack up most of my cool stationery when we started having kids because they seem to know where the paper is and like to draw on it. (I love my kids, but there is NO WAY I am sharing expensive paper from Europe with them so they can draw on it with bleed-through Sharpies!)

Sending you good vibes for your forthcoming project. That is a goal I would love to shoot for one of these days. I would LOVE to get a stamp like that also. I found a stationery store here in town that sells them. When I get some time, I really want to order one. I am looking forward to reading about your month of letters.

Good Luck on your project! You’ve inspired me to try it too. My usual goal is at least one letter a week. I’m not even sure if I have enough people to write to for every day for a month so we’ll see how it goes!
