The only person I should worry about improving is myself. Oh what a motto, for life. Oh to be able to do it. All the time.

But you are so young. I'm saying it and I'm 72. -grin- See, all the time one has, to keep working on our own self? And see all the time it may take, to do it properly? :-)

Happy May,

Uniqueness is good. It wouldn't be fun if everyone is the same. People have their fair share of talents, or may be brought up in various environments. If I meet someone who I may perceive as being better than me, I would be drawn to that person because I want to learn what more I can do to refine my personality. On another token, if I meet someone who treats others negatively, I take it as another learning experience of what not to do - I guess my personality has been shaped by a slew of knee jerk reflexes as a result of learning what not to do. I have my share of friends from various socioeconomic backgrounds, and regardless of how much better one may be perceived to be from a financial perspective, I learned that there are a new set of problems one may have to cope with. I wasn't brought up from a prosperous family, but I truly appreciate the intrinsic worth I have grown in the course of my life. During a recent volunteering opportunity at the New Orleans International Human Rights Film Festival, I saw a documentary called "Roaming Around," which portrayed the lives of homeless children on the streets of Ghana. Some of these children run away because of various reasons, such as abuse, the inability of the parent to support children, or the parent started a new life and didn't want the child in their life. After the screening, I had to call my mom to thank her for feeding and taking care of me.

I'm truly grateful that I've come across your books as well as your blog, because you've given me an opportunity to learn so much. I highly respect your initiative to refine your personality; I think you're wonderful as you are. It's cool that you believe in life long learning, too. Thank you for sharing an interesting blog.
