Not One, But Two
I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but we are a week away from the next increase in stamp prices. Here’s the full price list. The cost of a plain old stamp will rise from $.42 to $.44.
This actually doesn’t bother me too much. What bothers me is when people say it’s the rise in stamp prices that keeps them from writing letters. Really? $.44 sets you back? I understand the price in packages may sway one to use another carrier, but I still say the good old USPS is the best way to send a simple letter. Now, when I go to buy rolls of stamps—100 stamps in a roll, yes I actually buy that many stamps at once—it’ll be $44 instead of $42. I’ll manage.

Oh no, 100 stamps costs two more dollars?! Yeah, I don’t understand the people complaining about the rising cost of sending letters, either. At least they’re not paying €1 per stamp or something ridiculous like that. (Okay — if I were sending mail within the country it would be €0.55, but even that translated into dollars is a lot more than USPS.)

Awww, the price of stamps is just an excuse. >,-)
I can say that here, ’cause it’s among friends. But I know, not to say it, in some circles. -grin-
Thank you for the neat link to the info, also.
I’ll try to get to my local PO on Mon. and hope they have lots of pretty stamps, to offer. If not, I’m gonna’ have to look into getting them, through the mail, I guess.

I just don’t like the need to buy $.02 stamps - the asthetic quality of two stamps on a letter vs. one isn’t so pretty.
And $.44 stamps is still very cost effective for the joy of getting a real letter vs. an email.

Christina, that’s a good point. This time last year when the price increased (by only one cent) I was barely into a 100-stamp roll (poor planning on my part). I had to buy a plethora of one-cent stamps. I still have some one-centers left over, which will get me through this next increase. Lucky for me, this time, I only have a book of stamps I have to finish rather than a whole roll. I might even make the trip to USPO to stock up on Liberty stamps before the week is over.
