Going Viral

I managed to sneak myself into someone else’s book. Last summer, I received an e-mail from Brad and Deb Schepp—a dynamic writing duo. They saw my book trailer on Mediabistro and asked to interview me for a book they were working on: How to Make Money with YouTube: Earn Cash, Market Yourself, Reach Your Customers, and Grow Your Business on the World’s Most Popular Video-Sharing Site. I gladly accepted, and the book hits shelves this month.

I can’t wait to read it because I have yet to actually make money from YouTube. I have managed to spend some money having a video made that I posted on YouTube, but that’s different. In this book, I make a cameo on page 140, and Brad and Deb were kind enough to thank me in the acknowledgements on page xi.

Speaking of YouTube sensations, however, I recently read the story of a single mom living in England who started doing make-up tutorials on YouTube and she’s now huge—just launched her own make-up line! I love stories like this. I love being genuinly happy for other people and Lauren Luke is my latest find.

Coincidentally, I just received information in a casual conversation yesterday with a leading professor of journalism, who stated that all information, pictures, art, etc. posted on YouTube, legally belongs to YouTube (and FaceBook?). Have you heard anything like this?

Tina ~ I had not heard that about YouTube (although it doesn’t surprise me now that you say it). Facebook went through a huge debacle earlier this year about what they do / do not own and for exactly how long. Check it out:
