I wrote an article for The Frisky called “Soapbox: Celebrate Your Dang Anniversary in Person—Not On Facebook!

Some commenters suggest I sound bitter. Let me be clear: I am thrilled for my friends when they get engaged and am honored to be invited to their weddings. I am happy to celebrate life and love with them on their back porches and around their dinner tables. I just don’t believe Facebook is the forum to conduct a romantic relationship. My personal belief is, when on Facebook, it’s less about proclaiming love and more about receiving validation from the peanut gallery.

If we turn to the most popular wedding reading of all time, we’ll find: “Love is patient, love is kind, it is not envious or boastful or arrogant or rude. . .” ~ 1 Corinthians 13: 4-7

I believe posting your anniversary on Facebook falls under being boastful. But it’s just my opinion. No more, no less.
