A Prayer for the People of Haiti

My priest, Alan Neale, sent this in an e-mail today. I also encourage everyone to donate—even if it’s $10—to the relief efforts. I donated through Partners in Health recommended by Charity: Water.

O Gracious God, we ache for our neighbours in Haiti who have lost even what little they have had. Comfort the child, the woman, the man whose beloved have died in this disaster. Shelter the young and old whose dwelling has been destroyed. Equip the physician, the nurse, the mission worker to be a healer in the midst of confusion and despair. Inspire the solider, the diplomat, the head of state to respond with both compassion and efficiency. And move us in our response to recognize in images and stories the plight of our own brothers and sisters. This we pray in the Name of the One who said, “Come to me, all who are burdened and in trouble, and I will refresh you”, our Saviour Jesus Christ. Amen
